Francisco Ravelo
Francisco Ravelo is a criminal defense and personal injury attorney. Francisco started his career as an Oregon lawyer with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office in 1993 as a Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney. During his tenure, he was promoted in a year and helped develop and implement a newly created position of Deputy District Attorney (DDA) for the multi-jurisdictional Auto Theft Task Force. His responsibilities included management of all cases generated by the task force, working and training directly with law enforcement from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and the Portland Police Bureau. After working with the AUto Theft Task Force, He next served as the North Portland Neighborhood Deputy District Attorney in which he worked directly with North Portland detectives as well as various organizations and agencies including the City Attorney’s Office, Liquor Control Commission, and Portland neighborhood groups.
After working both in Portland Police Bureau Southeast Precinct and Portland Police Bureau North Precinct, Francisco was promoted again to the Major Assaults and Sex Crimes Unit, where he handled some of Multnomah County’s most serious crimes, including rape and murder cases. His responsibilities included all stages of felony litigation from presentation of cases to grand juries to motions, negotiations, pleas, trials and sentencing.
In 2003, he decided to leave his position with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office to pursue his own practice in Beaverton, Oregon. As an Oregon lawyer in Beaverton, he now handles DUII defense. major criminal defense, and has extended his legal expertise into the areas of restraining/stalking orders, and personal injury matters.
Cecilia Nguyen
Cecilia Kim-Dung Nguyen focuses her practice on family law, immigration and citizenship, and employment law. Ms. Nguyen also provides legal advice and counseling to small businesses relating to contracts, business formations, employer-employee issues, and other related matters. As part of her practice, Ms. Nguyen often represents clients in mediations, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, Oregon state courts, and Oregon federal courts. Moreover, because of her fluency in the Vietnamese language, Ms. Nguyen often assists Vietnamese speaking clients (as well as English speaking clients) in a variety of basic general practice matters.
Prior to relocating to Oregon, Ms. Nguyen worked for the Attorney General’s Office in the State of Illinois in the Labor Unit, where she handled administrative hearings and represented clients in state and federal courts. As an Assistant Attorney General, Ms. Nguyen’s responsibilities included representing various state agencies and officials in state and federal employment and civil rights litigations. She also represented the Illinois Department of Labor in civil prosecutions of violations of wage and hour laws and instituted actions to enforce and collect on judgments and fee awards. As a representative of the AG’s office, she responded to discrimination complaints filed with the EEOC and managed union grievance matters. After moving to Oregon in 2003 and prior to joining Ravelo Nguyen, PC, Ms. Nguyen was an Associate/Labor Consultant for a Portland law firm, where she provided full service representation and in-house counseling to labor union clients and handled several wage and hour class actions.
In terms of education, Ms. Nguyen is a graduate of Tulane University where she received a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Cell & Molecular Biology in 1996. She received her J.D. and a Certificate in Internal Legal Studies from the Loyola University School of Law New Orleans in 1999, and later earned an LL.M. in Information Technology and Privacy Law from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 2000. She is admitted to practice law in Oregon, Illinois (inactive status), and Louisiana (inactive status). She is also admitted to the practice law in the U.S. District Court, District of Oregon and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois.
Ms. Nguyen is a member of the Oregon State Bar, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and is currently serving on the Oregon State Bar House of Delegates. Ms. Nguyen is also currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Tigard Public Library and the Tigard Library Foundation.
